The 3rd annual Girls Skate Camp is back! This Summer from July 28th to August 1st, a week long residential skate camp just for girls. Open to girls of all ages and abilities – its your chance to visit a whole bunch of different skateparks and learn from sponsored riders like Dora Horvath (Rogue, Roam And Seek) in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Based in the UK (near Birmingham) – the last two years have seen girls come from all over the country as well as a bunch of other European countries to take part, visit new parks, make new friends, learn new tricks and have a lot of laughs! We’re also very lucky to have such cool sponsors supporting the camp and all girls will receive a great goodybag of product thank to them (Hoopla, Rockstar Bearings, Rokeo, Rapanui, ShoeGoo, She Shreds, Rogue, F Riders Inc, Roam And Seek, Femipleasure, Tech Deck, Pommie Grommet and Brahboys). WOW! So whether you come by yourself or grab your friends – we’ll see you in the Summer – for the best holiday ever – a skateboard adventure!

We’ve also reduced the price this year to make it even easier for girls to get involved – but its still all inclusive – meaning that all your accommodation, food, drink, skatepark entry, pro riders, free goodies etc is all included – all week! (We’ve also got tasty new caterers this year who cook up delicious stuff!) (You can also now pay in small chunks to make it easier for parents or those who have to save up their own pay cheques!)

For girls coming from abroad – it’s easiest to try and get your flights to Birmingham – but if you do come to London then its just a 2 hour direct train journey away. Get in touch if you need help with travel plans.

Super excited because the last two years have always been the highlight of the Summer and you can check out previous videos and galleries on the website here. Keep an eye on the Rubicon Girl website for latest news and we’ll be announcing the next pro rider soon.

Sign up here.

Global XGames

The Alliance is proud to announce that ESPN's X Games will be adding in two new women's skateboarding contests for 2013! One women's street contest (Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil stop) and one women's park contest (Barcelona, Spain stop) will be added to the Global X calendar along with the pre-existing women's street contest at X Games LA in August. We will be working closely with ESPN, California Productions, and our invite committees on planning, formats, and athlete selection for these events. Check back soon for more details!

From the ESPN site: "Four-time X Games gold-medalist skateboarder Cara-Beth Burnside said it should give women more incentive to push the sport. "There are so many girls out there skating right now, and transition skating is a huge part of what they are skating," Burnside said".

Women's skateboard event dates/locations for Global X Games 2013:

Women's Street - April 18-21st: Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil

Women's Park - May 16-19th: Barcelona, Spain

Women Street - Aug. 1-4th: Los Angeles, California - USA

Come on out to Clairemont Nov. 3rd! Whether you’re skating, want to learn, or just want to watch, come support women’s skateboarding as well as the non-profit Human Options. We’re raising scholarship funds for victims of domestic violence.

The event will feature learn-to-skate clinics from 9-11AM and then we will kick off the string of contests: AM bowl, PRO bowl, AM vert, PRO vert and wrap up with a “first to 540 jam.” Will you be the next female to land a 540? Mike McGill will be there to judge…
